Vermont!
We made it to Vermont!
…that was a LONGGGG drive day
We have fallen in love with Vermont and we just barely got here! Could it possibly be due to the fact that we got to meetup with our good friends Bri & TJ from “Embracing Detours” and spend a few weeks? This is just the first video of many (perhaps 2 or 3 more) that we will share with you about all we discovered in Vermont. And, we did not get to see or do it all!
Here are a few fun facts about Kampfires Campground and Brattleboro, VT
1. This was Bri and TJ’s first year to manage the campground and, according to the campers we met there, they have done an excellent job! Will they be back next year? I’m not sure if anyone knows that answer to that question - yet!
2. More than just a campground, Kampfires combines all the amenities you'd expect (like fire rings, picnic tables and full hook-ups) with some that you might not! Including an on-site food truck, miniature golf course, live music and events, a creative playscape (with pirate ship, castle and tractor) and even a secret "electric chair" hidden in the woods...
3. Brattleboro is home to the New England Center for Circus Arts and the Vermont Jazz Center.
4. How did Brattleboro get it’s name? In 1753 William Brattle, Jr. was granted shares of land by George II on which the town of Brattleboro was built . He never lived in town (his home was in Cambridge, MA), but Brattleboro derives its name from the phrase “William Brattle's Borough.”
5. Brattleboro has been named one of the Ten Best Small Towns in America (Fodor's); one of the Fifty Best Places to Live: The Next Great Adventure Towns (National Geographic); and one of the Eight Great Places You've Never Heard Of (Mother Earth News).
I’m ready to go back, especially if Bri and TJ are there again!
We absolutely love getting out there and meeting new people. We encourage all of our Mountain Beaches friends to shop small, shop local and to always be on the lookout to give a helping hand to those in need!
